WAYLAND, Mich. (WOOD) -- One of the two female teenagers accused in connection with beating a classmate that was caught on video has been sentenced.

The attack happened at Wayland Union High School on the final day of school last year. The 14-year-old victim said she was attacked because she is gay. However, the suspects said that wasn't a factor.

One of the 15-year-old suspects pleaded guilty last month in family court to aggravated assault. A judge ordered her on Monday to spend six weeks in juvenile detention. He also put her on indefinite probation.

The other suspect on Monday pleaded no contest to the same charge. She will be sentenced in November.
